Valkyrie Digital Assets files for a Bitcoin ETF in the U.S. 22 January 2021

Valkyrie Digital Assets, the crypto subsidiary of investment firm Valkyrie Investments, has filed an application for a Bitcoin Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Valkyrie Bitcoin Fund would be listed on NYSE Arca and Coinbase Custody Trust Company, LLC would act as the custodian for the proposed ETF. The SEC has rejected all Bitcoin ETF applications to date due to concerns about price volatility, market manipulation and hacking. But now, with a new administration and a changing of the guard at the SEC, it is widely hoped by crypto practitioners that such an ETF will be approved in 2021.
