On 13 August 2026, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Michael S. Selig released the agenda for the inaugural Innovation Advisory Committee (IAC) meeting. The meeting will take place in Washington on 20 August 2026. Discussions will address the regulation of crypto assets, artificial intelligence and prediction markets. The agenda confirms the regulatory subjects for the meeting following the CFTC's earlier announcement of the inaugural IAC session. Chairman Selig said the Committee will consider how emerging technologies and financial products are shaping US markets. The meeting will be livestreamed through the CFTC website. Members of the public may submit comments until 27 August 2026. The Commission has stated that the agenda may change to accommodate other IAC priorities.1
CFTC Confirms Crypto Assets, AI and Prediction Markets for IAC Meeting
The CFTC has confirmed that the regulation of crypto assets, artificial intelligence and prediction markets will form part of the inaugural meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee on 20 August 2026.1 Chairman Selig described the meeting within the context of US financial innovation and the development of emerging financial products. He stated:
"America has long been the global hub of financial innovation. I look forward to meeting with the entrepreneurs, thinkers, and builders of the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee to discuss ways emerging technologies and financial products are shaping our markets as we embark upon the new frontier of finance."
