Singapore restricts public crypto advertising 17 January 2022

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) issued a new set of guidelines for digital payment token (DPT) providers on 17 January. The new regulations prohibit them from marketing their services in public areas such as public transportation, public transportation venues, public websites, social media platforms and broadcast and print media. Importantly, the new guidelines will apply to all registered crypto services providers and those in the transitional period. Additionally, the guidelines prohibit crypto service providers from opening physical ATMs in public areas and warn the general public of the high risks associated with the crypto market.
