A group of members of the United States House of Representatives has requested data on the diversity and inclusion practices of 20 major firms dealing with cryptocurrencies. The U.S.-based crypto firms were asked to provide information on “how and whether the industry is working toward a more equitable environment for everyone.” The lawmakers sent request letters to companies including Aave, Binance, Coinbase, FTX, Kraken, Ripple and to venture capital firms such as Andreessen Horowitz, Haun Ventures and Sequoia Capital. According to the group, there is a lack of publicly available data to effectively evaluate the diversity of America’s largest digital assets companies, and the investment companies with significant investments in these companies. The goal of requesting this information is to ensure transparency, as a first step to achieving racial and gender equity.
